So, we're expanding the chicken coop, and I figured I might as well do the duck house too. Now, the chicken coop is going to be roughly sixty square feet, and I want to elevate it. So the plan is to put the duck coop directly under the chicken coop. The chicken coop will be elevated, the ducks will have a new, bigger house, and they can share an attached run, for use mostly during the winter and at night. Otherwise everyone will be free ranging. The whole back wall will swing open for cleaning, and the nest boxes will be outside and I'll have access to them without having to go into the house. I will be putting in windows for ventilation, of course, and being that I only have five ducks, going on six if I can find another female, everyone will have plenty of room. Has anyone ever done this? Do you think it will work?

Sounds really cool but if it were my animals, there's no way they would go into their own separate coop!
