My family and I had originally rescued a baby potbellied pig from some idiot college students that needed to get rid of him due to the land lord not wanting him there. They had put him on Craigslist and our friends son saw him and immediately rescued him and asked us to care for him so they knew he wouldn't be neglected, abused, or worse by stupid college kids. He was named Preston and lived with us growing into a healthy male pig. He was quite lonely once our cows were sent away to be eaten and started breaking out into our neighbors pasture to frolic with her horses. We decided we would find him a fellow pig friend to be with. That is when we found Prudie the female pot bellied pig at the SPCA. The only reason we considered adopting her was on the fact she was spayed. Well it turns out she was NOT spayed and we now have baby piglets! This is technically her second birth. Her first was in the dead of winter and she lost the whole litter. We were obviously upset they all died and a bit irritated that she actually wasn't spayed. So she now had this litter a few months later and they are all 100% healthy. 5 baby girls that are 3 days old now. We are in the process of contacting the SPCA about how she was notspayed and helping us place the babies in new homes. We are getting a vet to come out and neuter our male Preston so we won't have to worry about and more surprise litters. So that is the back story to how we have a litter of 5 baby girls. I was wondering if there are any tips or other stuff we should know about the babies. We are going to be making contracts for the new owners agreeing to the commitment of caring for a pot bellied pig and agreeing to spay them as well as to not have the same issue we had. We will also be educating them on care, training, and other details to know about caring for a pot bellied pig. I want to be as informed as possible as for myself and to inform the new owners about their new babies. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
