Looking for winter hardy white egg layers

I love mine, and all of them made it through a week of 0 degrees. Black Minorcas are great too! Out of 7 hens, ( 3 CW leghorns & 4 minorcas) I get 5 or 6 eggs a day, mainly 6! I like the minorcas better, they don't seem to be as flighty, as the leghorns. As for Breeders, I don't know. Mine came from Ideal Poultry in Cameron, TX. ( Great Hatchery by the way!)

Though I've no experience with the breed, these I would also recommend - As for one, they're one of the few white egg layers with a decent amount of meat on the bone, and also one of the few not originally brought up in HOT climates.

I also recommend Dorkings. Other than everything Illia mentioned, they're calm & nice birds to have around! I wouldn't call the egg white though... ours are a tinted pale ivory. Hubby says they're white...lol!

eversole6 -- I saw on another thread that you have mottled Dorkings. What do they look like? Do you have pics?

Well this is a bird I hadn't even thought about. They sound nice... and calm. That's great. I just left an email for the dorking breeders to see if they know of a breeder near me that might sell hatching eggs. When my hen goes broody I'd like to stick them under her.

thank you all.

There's a breeder on the official Dorking Breeder's Club website that is selling Silver Grey eggs & chicks.

I agree, and I believe they should lay a white egg

According to Henderson's breed chart, the eggs are "creamy white to light tint." I've had them for 2 years & can assure you that they're not pure white. I have also bought eggs from other Dorking breeders & have never seen a "pure white" Dorking egg. I'm a colorist, artist and a theatrical & special effects make-up artist. I have to look at and understand pigment -- and many artists see color better than other people. I'll post a pic later.
