I have been to Bresse and had the chicken several times there and elsewhere in France. Frankly, I don't know what all the fuss was about. It was a good chicken, not spectacular or that distinctive in my opinion. I have eaten 'heirloom' varieties here and elsewhere that were far better in every way.
