I am in northern Florida and very happy to pick up if you are in my area. Otherwise, if you can ship from somewhere else, that works for me, too.

Let me know estimated shipping costs plus cost of chicks.

I need a few more laying hens so I asked hubby to pick what chicken breed he wanted. He chose Easter Eggers. We need two pullets to be future laying hens. I would also like to raise two or three turkeys for Thanksgiving (give away two, keep one). Our oven is not big enough to hold a bird over about 16 pounds, though. I'm thinking heritage breed?

In summary, our WANT list:

1) Two baby Easter Egger hens. Older chicks are fine as long as they are friendly. They will be our son's pets.

2) Two or three heritage breed turkeys to be purchased in time for modest sized Thanksgiving birds.

I have White Midget turkey poults. They hatched on April 20th and I'll be happy to sell you some the weekend of May8th or thereabouts. I'll be out of town this weekend for district 4-H competitions with my daugther. I'm west of Gainesville. PM me if you are interested.

There are several poultry swaps coming up in the local area in the near future. Easter Eggers are fairly common at them.

Can Midget Whites naturally breed? I guess we'd need a coop far away from our laying hens due to diseases turkeys can get from chickens, right? Can you house a grown turkey with a goat?

Yes, they can naturally breed. That's how I got the poults in my brooder right now. I have five hens and four toms. I swapped the toms out every couple of weeks to broaden the genetic diversity. My stock originated from Sandhill Preservation Center in Iowa.

If blackhead occurs in our area I've never heard of it. That's the major concern about running chickens and turkeys together. Mine are brooded together, but once they go onto the ground they are kept in separate tractors.
