I have a nice lavender cockerel who is ready to do his thing and he is advertising for a nice little lady ( or two).

I'm unable to locate any live birds...so I'm now looking for eggs! He'll just have to wait a loooong while.

Have you thought about pure black at all? From what I've read on the boards, if you're striving for lavender offspring, it works well to cross lavender with black.

Sorry no eggs but...I had to say hello..I'm an old time gator too..born and raised in Gville..now displaced in Ky.lol:frow

Doesn't Chris (Cajun de Poulet) have Lavender birds available anymore?!

Like Michiganwoods said, combining with black I've read will work... I think they breed some from black, or black can carry the lavender gene, just like it carries the blue and sometime splash gene.

Find a couple of nice black silkies. Breed them, hatch the eggs and then breed the resulting split black offspring back to him to get lavender babies.

That's great, that way you should get lav's the first go around instead of waiting. Congrats on your find. Let me know if you start selling eggs, I would love some.
