I want to buy two hens in this coloring. The owner of the chickens says they are RIR and Barred Rock crosses. But the coloring is hard to describe. Also does this particular one look like a hen or a rooster? I want to buy this bird sooooo bad its goregous! I'd so buy two! haha

That look like crele to me...hopefully, someone else will offer their expert opinion. In the meantime, check out crele coloration.

Does this one pictured look like a girl or a boy? The lady on the phone said roo, but I think I described the chicken poorly.

agree...but that is NOT a RIR/ Barred Rock cross...it has feathered legs! But it is an amazing bird!

Aw! That is such bad luck! Will this coloring ever come in a pullet form? And because I'm curious, what makes this 100% likely not to be a pullet? It looks hen-like to me(but I'm new at this).

It's just a barnyard mix most likely, and the colour pattern is called Crele.

I think Crele looks much different in females.

As for the bird in question, it has rooster feathers, which are the feathers around the neck and the tail that drape down and are pointy. Females will have rounded feathers where roosters will have pointy.

definate roo, it has pointed saddle and hackle feathers. hens wont be colored like that.

doesnt look quite crele, more like a gold cuckoo or Dom coloration.
