Hey guys,

This is my first year raising BBW turkeys for the thanksgiving market. Starting small...I started with 30 and am down to 25. I am finding that my feed is lacking in vitamins and minerals, even though the feed guy said they don't live long enough for it to matter...not true! having leg issues with a few of them and need to fix it!

They are currently eating 24% protein of corn and soybean meal. They also get some fruits/veggies a couple times a week. They get electrolytes in the water once a week. This week, I added some all flock - 18% protein - to their diet to help with getting some vitamins/minerals. I think it is helping a little, they seem perkier! But, this also means I am decreasing the protein intake down to 21%.

They are 12 weeks old...and we have a butchering date at 20 weeks. I feel like they are already a little small, and I want to give them an extra boost to gain some more before then! Should I:

-- get some poultry concentrate from the feed mill and mix it in with that I have?

--just keep doing what I am doing?

any other suggestions? I see valley vet has products such as Oxy-Gen Fines that are supposed to help with gains. Any one ever tried this, or another product that gives them a boost? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I know I have seen premade rations for feeding to meat birds, I personally would have started them on a game bird ration for four weeks than switched to a meat bird ration, adding some corn and sunflower seeds towards the end to get a bit of fat.

Actually i did start them on 28% gamebird feed that was medicated. Prob for the 1st 8 weeks. Then i switched over to the local feed mill feed.
