Looking to learn how to build a chicken/pigeon coop in Florida that is hurricane proof

Hi and welcome to BYC.

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

This is a useful link relating to guides to read through - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/website-announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3/?prefix_id=3

Hi Cliff, it's nice to have you here! I think the FL state thread will be your best bet for hurricane-resistant building advice (use the link Pork Pie Ken has given you for finding your state thread).

Being a former Floridian, I understand your concerns and wish you all the best with your project. Good luck to you!

hurricane-resistant building
Took the words right out of my thumbs!
Hello my name is Cliff I'm knew to the site. I live in Florida and looking for a video or blue print/design I can follow on how to build a chicken/pigeon coop. Can any one help me. Thanks
Hi fellow Floridian. No such thing as Hurricane Proof, unless you build it under ground. But watch out for flood water.

Although there are measures to build it strong as possible. But even a cinder block home can be cut in half by a falling tree.
Hurricane clips, straps, galvanized screws. Don't build near any "Water Oaks" (hollow trees).
Remember during mandatory evacuations, shelters don't let you bring your livestock with you. So build as strong as possible.
Ken gave you a link in box #4
