Hello everyone! I have been around chickens my entire life, but I never personally got really into raising nice show birds until reccently. I have always been most experianced with the meat side of showing birds (Turkeys, Pekin Ducks, and commercial pens). I have had some show birds in the past, but I never bred any myself or really knew what to look for in show birds.

We are re-doing our chicken area and we are going to make 6 sectioned off runs so I am able to start my breeding program. I also hope to get NPIP certified eventually (however I am still unclear on the process of doing that.) I currently have what looks like a decent trio of Rhode Island Red bantams (*The bird in my profile pic is not my current rooster, he was a roo we had a few years ago. I don't believe the animals I have now are related), and I would also like to eventually raise bantam cochins. However I don't know what I am looking for. I am waiting to get my Standard of Perfection, however I am a very visual person. I need diagrams and photos to help explain to me what is best. Also I don't know what is "inncorrect" or "bad" to look for in birds either. Would anyone out there be willing to help me out and maybe teach me a little? Any help is greatly apperciated. I just need some guidance on what I am doing.

I am in Indiana, so this year it looks like I will not be able to attend any shows this year. I think that will give me lots of time to learn some great things and build on my stock. :) (I will post some pictures of the animals I have soon in the comments)

*Also. I raise rabbits and we usually pedigree our stock. Is the same done with chickens?
