It is sad losing a baby, but you gave her a good life while she was around. Sometimes them passing peacefully away when they're still very young is for the best, that way they don't struggle for weeks or months with multiple health problems and eventually succumb. Sorry for your loss!

I could never do a high production operation. I'm just too sensitive.

I know it is not Dollar friendly but I think we should have more respect for those animals that give their lives to sustain us.

We dispatched out first Rooster last week. Even though he was a mean little cuss who attacked me every chance he could I felt better knowing he had a good life with all the bugs he could eat and hens he could catch and fresh air he could breath.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I hope this never happens again, but I have heard that the most humane way to cull a chick is to put it in the freezer. It's body will slow down and fall asleep.

I had three of my columbian rock chicks do the same thing except they progressively took longer and longer to wake up til they just stopped waking up. doubt it is the same problem but i found this thread and thought id share my experience
