Is this a sign of them nearing laying? Today my hubby noticed that most of our hens have bigger butts around the vent area. Even my daughter commented on that. They call them "pouch butts" LOL. Just looks like they have developed in that area...since this is the first time with chickens, I have no clue what their back ends look like near laying time. They aren't quite as fast moving when they run either, still quick when it comes to feeding time:lol:, but they seem to waddle a bit more. Any ideas??

If their faces (combs and such) are redder...get ready for them homegrown eggs. Our Banty Mottled Cochins started laying at 19 and a half weeks and it was a total surprise! Best surprise that there is!
