loosing feathers on top of back and around legs and butt.

    We have tried dusting with DE and keeping their laying nest clean, chickens have plenty of room and also free range on occasions. Flock consist of two roosters and sixteen hens all bird will be one year old June 14th.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    if it is not from mites/lice you may have a feather plucker in the group or it is from the roosters mounting her, you could try a hen apron if you think it might be from the roosters. spend some time watching them interact esp. at roost time that is when i finally saw my little feather plucker in action.
