I am a witness to these chickesn, they usually look like mutts, healthy and have seen some really beautiful ones. They are usually on the 5 FWY around Los Angeles. They just peck around the edge while traffic wizzes by. I've never taken a photo of them when I lived down there.

I went to Kauai this summer and they were EVERYWHERE! No matter where you stay, they will wake you up in the morning with their crowing and you see them running around from chicks to adults.
