LOSING ALL MY BOILERS!!

I'm not trying to start an argument back up (seriously, that would be wrong), but can cocci wipe out an entire flock in 3 days?

Hope you find an answer from the lab. If it was something in the feed like too much salt, that would be soooo upsetting to me. I know how much time, care, labor, etc etc goes into raising those birds, and to have this happen JUST before butchering really just sucks.

I had the same problem a month or so ago. I thought it was bad quail/turkey starter and could have been or it was a bout of cocci or even both. Long story short I got my birds off unmedicated feed and put them on medicated stuff and things turned about quickly. But through the whole thing the birds did not stop eating the stuff. So for awhile I didn't suspect the food until I realized it was when I fed it I lost the most amount of gamebirds.

So I hope you find your answers and get this resolved. It was rough when I was losing chicks to it and I had no answers right away I was probably as stressed as you are. Even if you lost them all when you have your answers then you will know and be able to avoid it next time. I'm real sorry they died on you.

On a note as well no one here was trying to be condescending to you we all just try to pass on info from our own experiences and there is no need to shout.

I think it takes longer than that for it to kill. Though if they show no signs it can seem like it was in just a few days. I'm curious to know how quickly a bad batch of food can kill. I was feeding the starter to my birds for awhile since it was down to nearly half a bag before the birds started dying. I know for sure my non-gamebirds and non-waterfowl caught cocci as they did not get this feed.

Hi, I've been a member for almost a year and there are certain people on this board who give excellent advice, and have special concern for new members. One of them is this member. I can't list them all cause there are too many. I'm 100% sure he meant to give you good advice.
May I ask you why your vet can't test the stool? I would think any vet could send stool out for a test, and save time doing so.

How disheartening. I think I'd hold back a little of that feed in case you don't believe the results of the feed manufacturer's results. Not sure where you'd go for a second and unbiased test, but I'd sure be mad enough to look into it.
