LOSING ALL MY BOILERS!!

Any vet can do a cheap fecal test. At least you will know it was Cocci, not Nutrena,
but a few of us here already know that.

Don't give up on your birds. We all lose them and it's never fun.

I thought I would keep you all informed, since you've helped me already. I contacted my vet, who gave me a number, anyway--that was a long story. Ended w/3 hours on the phone w/ DATCP. Finally called ext agent. She got back to me w/2 testing sites for me to contact. I will contact them tomorrow. I had to turn the feed in b4 I was informed of the info. I did keep a sandwich baggy full of feed. I don't appreciate the person telling me they already know it's cocci. I thoroughly disagree. I am not an idiot when it comes to raising animals. No, I don't have a thousand acre farm. However, I have raised chickens, pigs and turkeys for several years. This is not normal. When they are perfectly healthy til one bag of feed is provided and then they stop eating and die, something is wrong!!!

I would keep a bit on the side sealed up before you ship it off.... this way at least you could always have it tested somewhere else.....just in case.

Sorry for your loss, it's terrible.

I was trying to help and passed on words a few words of advice about a fecal test.
You can appreciate or not appreciate anything you want. No one said you were an idiot.

I don't mean to be argumentative. I am just replying to the person that said, " At least you will know it was Cocci, not Nutrena. But a few of us already know that." One thing I did learn from two different MD's today, is that it could be too much salt in a bag{of feed}. That was new to me. I do enjoy learning from this site. I am only voicing concern and learning new info. I am not losing anything else that has free ranged, etc. The person that wrote that should read this entire entry. Maybe that would help

I wish you the best of luck with your birds and hope you find the answer to this
dilemma. I look forward to you sharing the results of your findings with us.

I HAVE LOST THEM ALL!! THERE WERE 7 LEFT ON FRIDAY. WE DECIDED TO JUST KILL THEM. I DO NOT MEAN TO BE RUDE. SOMETHING BEYOND MY CONTROL HAPPENED. i KNOW WHAT COCCIDIOSIS IS, i HAPPEN TO BE AN RN. THIS IS WHAT I DO NOT BELIEVE HAPPENED. STICK WITH ME I WILL LET YOU KNOW. I ENJOY YOU'RE TRYING TO HELP. i DON'T INTEND TO BE BELLIGERANT. HOWEVER, AS I HAVE SAID--THIS SATURDAY i WAS ABOUT TO PUT 51 MORE CHICKENS IN MY FREEZER. THIS WAS NOT COCCIDIOSIS. I was told by two different MD's today that it could be as little as --too much salt in the feed.

I am truly sorry you lost them. We have 50 meaties of our own right now
and would be very unhappy if this happened to us.

You've had a bad week. I hope there are no hard feelings.
