losing chickens, egg binding?

Last night my wife found a chicken dead in the coop, some feathers missing from the back left of the neck but no blood our pills of feathers. This morning one seemed a little lethargic, she checked it when she went to check eggs just a little bit ago, that hens vent looked like it had bloody/puss and swollen. Any ideas what it might be or what to do?

Perhaps a small predator, something like a fisher cat or feral cat, tried to grab them?

That's what I thought at first, but I didn't see any tracks when I did a walk around. Did some research, maybe a vent prolapse...

Yes it might be prolapsed. Clean the area and put preparation H on it.
