Losing Chicks ADVICE?

Do you have a thermometer in the brooder? That is the first thing to check. 95 degrees for the first week. Are they on shavings? I don't put them on shavings for the first 2 weeks. I don't want them filling up on anything but food. 3rd, what where the weather conditions while they were shipping? The only time we had large losses what when the temps were bitter (0-10), and they just were not kept warm enough.
Good luck

Leela2012 - I thank you very much for the advice, i will contact my hatchery and go from there... Ill post when i get some answers figured out!

calamityfarm - i do not have a thermometer in the brooder - I will do this as well to check temp however their behavior suggests that it is warm enough. they are on pine chips and shredded newspaper no shavings... and it is interesting that you say that about the weather it was very chilly out when they were shipped and moved in in fact it has been very chilly and wet for the last few days, not god to be losing so many very sad i am but will try out suggestions that have been made and let you all know what happens!

Thanks for the Advice!

So just talked to the hatchery they have not been vaccinated however if they are on a medicated feed they shouldn't be having any medical problems as of yet... and she will go through common problems with me after the weekend of me keeping track of the temp in the brooder... she said that it sounds like if they are just falling dead it still could be a heat problem because of the cool temps it has been lately. so i will be getting another heat lamp as well as the thermometer and electrolites and then see how they fair for the weekend!...

Thanks everyone for the tips and advice i sure appreciate it!

Well everyone... this weekend was a little sad still but also good... I stopped at the farm Product Store on the way home Friday and picked up some electrolites, another heat lamp and some grit!... got home and one of the babies was not doing well

... I modified their box with the new light and put in a thermometer to keep track of temps (between 85-90 all weekend)... they were loving it so that was good... did some beak dipping with the one that didn't look so good and she seemed to perk up a bit through the evening and she was still alive Sat morning although pretty weak... i checked on her every hour and gave her more to drink she even tried to eat some food but that afternoon when i went back in she had died... all the others however are doing very well so have 18 left... one i did notice some Paste butt on so just cleaned her off and off she ran to enjoy her drink and food after... she seems to be good too! ... they are all running around now jumping off the feeder and seem to be happy with everything ... My Fingers are crossed that when i get home today every one will still be doing well!

Thank you so much to everyone with their suggestions i really don't know what i would have done without your help!
