I have 2 buff's that has no feather in their hinny section. is this normal for it ? help!!!!

They are probably either molting or the are getting pecked by other chickens. If the skin is irritated or broken I would be concerned if not I would just keep an eye on them.

So what if there IS skin irritation? I just noticed today that one of my chickens who's almost bald on their butts has vey red bumpy skin on her lower under part. I inspected closely for mites -- absolutely no bugs that can be seen with the naked eye. But 6 out of 8 of my chickens have major bald spots on their butts. Is this just molting? This is my first spring to hav grown lady chickens.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here are the pics. The black bird (and 4 others have these balding spots with no feathers -- but only on their butts. Then the golden bird has the balding but she has red bumpy skin between her legs. I am a newbie and I need to know what I can do for these hens. I also noticed today that their poop is very watery, though it is still the greenish color it should be.

Thak you for any help!!!

It looks like the last chicken is molting but I'm not very experienced in this area either. The first chicken's bald spot looks too smooth to have been pulled, it looks like when my baby chicks' butt feathers fell out when they got pasty butt, but this cannot be the cause since there is no dried poop. It could be mites but you ruled that out when you checked them...hmm I read about a problem like this on another site but the help reply wasn't very helpful. Make sure their sleeping accomodations are ok, watch to see if hens are pulling other hens' feathers out, watch to see if they're doing it to themselves, check to make sure they're getting enough nutrients in their food e.t.c. I hope this helped a little bit, though it probably doesn't.
