Losing Feathers! Pretty sure they’re not molting because they are still laying like crazy! I have checked & don’t see any mites/lice on birds.

My chicks are losing feathers and still laying like crazy. I have been dusting with stuff recommended by Tractor Supply. I don’t see mites/lice on my chicks, but they are losing a lot of feathers and one has really red irritated looking spot. They are still eating and very active. I just don’t know what to do.

Check the birds in the evening as some mites only come out and feed on the birds at night after they roost. I use a headlamp so I have both of my hands free to inspect the birds. Good luck...

Thanks & I will do it this tonight. I read where I could mix water & vinegar 50/50 and spray coop before puttin in my fresh bedding. Any other ideas?

Use this if you do have pests. You can get these at TSC and they work great.

The bonus with permethrin is there is no egg withdrawal period as with some other products.
