losing layers

Thanks for joining! I wish I was more helpful! I'm not sure if it is possible to get a necropsy done in the chance you do lose more (I hope not). I definitely 2nd the recommendation to get fecals done at a vet if you are able, that way you can use the right dewormer right off the bat.

Keep us posted on how they are doing and what you are able to find out and any new symptoms they might have.

I have never wormed my chickens. Never seen worms.... I used to have livestock which i wormed on a regular basis, but they have been gone for about 3 years now
It's just what I'd assume mine would need if I were in your shoes, since I haven't wormed mine either, and the pale comb/wattles could be a sign, but it wouldn't be a sign "right before they die," so it still could be something else going on.

Most here use Safeguard or Valbazen to worm their chickens.

You would think living in a rural area I could find a chicken vet but I've contacted 4 and none do chickens. I'll keep looking
ANY vet can do a fecal float.

Be careful using Safeguard (fenbendazole) on molting chickens. There is some anecdotal data that suggests a risk of feather malformation during active re-growth. I have three hens finishing up their re-growth and I plan to hit the flock with a 5-day course of fenbendazole when they are done. I know they have round and cecal worms.

I won't post in the emergency forum yet. I cleaned the coop and sprayed diluted bleach in the layer boxes and everywhere yesterday afternoon. I know a lot of ppl don't agree with this but I am putting apple cider vinegar in their water for now. I have wormer on the way and waiting on my old horse vet to respond if he can do a fecal. Shouldn't be this hard to find a chicken vet imo. But I'll find one
