Hi All; hopefully someone can help me out. I set 13 eggs on Feb 13. Yesterday one worked for just about 20 hours to get out. She got a good hole with her little face poked out, breathing and chirping energetically. She turned herself around and died. I opened the shell this morning and she was just dead.
I've got another one that cracked her shell this morning and seemed to not be making any real progress. In a panic, I breached security and opened the incubator. I got a couple of sterile instruments and made a bigger hole (about 1" X 2" across the area where she was attempting to poke out). I saw a couple of blood spots and stopped immediately. She's got a nice papery membrane over the hole that I did not disturb.
She's chirping away periodically, and I can see her breathing pulse, so I'm confident that she's well in there. Because I lost the one last night so suddenly, I'm hoping to do something to save this one. Any ideas?
Also, the rest of the eggs don't seem to be doing anything at all. Do I re-candle them, and how long should I wait past their "due date" to give up?
