I woke up this morning to one of my lil silkie babies laying in the corner of the brooder, dead.

I don't know what happened, but I think maybe the temperature was too high? When I checked the thermometer in the brooder after I found the lil baby, it was at 100deg. The other 4 seem ok, but I lowered the temp in there, and they are all napping comfortably now. Could the temp. have been the issue? I feel so saddened

i had to go outside first thing this morning to bury the lil guy and I cried the whole time. I just don't know what I did wrong. It must have been the temp. was just too high, because it stayed really warm in our house last night, warmer than usual. I've put in a lower watt bulb, and lowered the temp for them. I just hope I don't lose any more. I can't take that again!

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't know the answer but I am sure someone will help. Glad the others are doing good.

My other 4 lil fur babies helped me get through it though! They all cuddled up on my lap for a mid-morning nap while I watched some tv, and it warmed my heart

I'm sorry for your loss too, I am the other one that just posted that I lost one last night.

I'm so sorry. I had one die Saturday night and one Sunday night and there is one I'm concerned about now. These were late hatchers and I think there was just something wrong with them and shouldn't have hatched. It is so hard tho. They are so easy to get attached to
