Lost 2 of 11 Ideal chicks and 3 more look sick.

Well, here we are at the end. I lost a total of 4 chicks, one recovered(?). At least it is eating and moving more normally. It does seem smaller then the rest tho. I put it back in with the others and it seems to be doing fine.

The advice on Nutri-Drench is what saved the one chick I believe. From now on all new chicks here will start with the two drops in the mouth right out of the shipping container.

Ideal Poultry refunded the cost of the four and even offered to reship. But I think it is too far this time of the year to ship live chicks. If I lost the rooster, then I can start over next year.

Thanks to all for the help and advice.

3KillerBs,
I got mine on Thursday but had no pasty butt on any of them. All seemed healthy, then Friday it started. Think you should be OK if all still good now. Not sure if it was the heat (hotter than normal here in MI that week) or they got too cold or just what. My local P.O. didn't help either but I won't go into that here.

They were shipped Weds at 9:15 PM and I received at 9:01 AM Thursday so 35 hours 46 minutes in transit.

I just cleaned chick bottoms. Only 3 significant cases left. I started with 10 of 12 messy on Saturday.
