I have 14 1 week old chicks, that I got from McMurray last Sunday, in a baby pool brooder. All of them have been doing great; eating, drinking and growing like weeds. Last night I checked on them and all was well. This morning when I walked in, I immediately noticed that some were missing, and frantically started looking for them. Apparently, all 4 of my EEers managed to get out of the pool and got trapped between the pool and the shed wall, just outside the reach of the heat lamps and just low enough to not be able to get back into the pool. 2 were already gone when I found them, 1 seemed totally fine, and the 4th was alive, but just barely. I did all I could to warm her up and rehydrate her, but she died this afternoon. I am heartbroken, but learned a very important lesson today. I have since taken them all out of the pool and cordoned off an area for them where they can't get trapped or stuck anywhere. I am just sorry I had to learn the hard way, and at their expense.
