Well today I got up and one of my chicks that wasnt even showing any signs at all of being sick was gurgling and sneezing big time. So I took three of them to the vet and by the time I got there and spent an hour there, it was having a hard time breathing so I had to have it put down. The vet gave me some meds for the other two after I decided to see if these other two will make it.
One thing I have learned is that it makes a HUGE difference where you get your chicks. I stopped at a place in San Jose to pick up some Vet RX and the people there told me they have had lots of people coming in to their store with sick chickens from this hatchery in Gilroy and they are recommending not to purchase chickens there. Im kicking myself for not waiting untill my regular place got some more chicks. Also infectious bronchitis is HUGELY contagious. Ive been reading about it on the internet and the stupid virus can travel 1000 feet, or it may even be yards, I dont remember. Anyway, Im so bummed out. Hopefully these other guys will make it, its so hard to see them get sick and die like this.

The vet gave me enrofloxacin, which Ive never heard of. Im pretty positive its IB because I had a necropsy done on a chick that died and it came back positive for IB. Yes the vet was an avian vet. No one does chickens around here so I have to drive quite a ways, which is a real bummer. Man someone could have a very lucrative business if they would set up a chicken vetranarian place. There were two other people in there with chickens when I went in, they told me that they are seeing more and more chickens.
The hatchery is in Gilroy on Monterey Highway, its called Farmers Feed and Supply. They dont vaccinate their chickens either which is so stupid, it costs 4 cents per chicken to vaccinate for Merecks.
