Please help I'm new to this I got 6 reds from tractor supply last week. On Saturday we went back to get a coop and we ended up purchasing some bantams. Well three of the six have dried poop on there rear which I cleaned last night in warm water. I found one dead this morning and I'm worried all my babies will catch whatever they have. My reds are big and healthy I don't want to lose them or any of them for that matter. Any ideas or suggestions

How old are they? it could be pasty butt just check all their bums and any that are covered in poop need to be soaked in warm water and cleaned of dried poop, if you cant get it off that way I would clip the bum feathers to keep it clean and clear, thats what I do if it gets bad. :)

So do you think the one I lost could have anything to do with that or is it ok to keep them with my other babies
Thanks for the reply

Try putting a little petroleum jelly on their bums, it'll help keep the droppings from sticking. Sometimes they just don't make it, but it definitely sounds like pasty butt. Check their bums multiple times a day, and if one of them has dried droppings, just gently rub the area with warm running water, then once it comes off you can blow dry the chick on a low heat setting. Be careful not to disturb the scab below the vent.

Sorry I just got them Saturday I'm not sure of the age but the are just starting to get wing feathers

I used olive oil rubbed on their bums, just in case you didnt have petroleum jelly like me :)

No not that u can see but my reds are super healthy all 6 but the bantams only two look really healthy the ones with pasty butt don't seem to be as active or healthy

Lol thanks I was just wandering where I was going to find petroleum jelly
