I lost 1 hen about 6 weeks ago and decided to treat everyone with Corid and ivermectin, though I do not know whare her cause of death was.
Lost a second hen 2 days ago. She had been pale on and off but was still laying any active the day she died. I opened her up (took pictures) and found that her liver was severely damaged, black masses, disintegrated in places and there was a larger blood clot in her abdominal cavity on that side, so I am guessing she had damage to her liver gum. Coccidosis and it hemmorhaged, causing her death.
I'm the liver had lots of hard black things in it similar in size and shape to rabbit poop. She also had a lot of abdominal fat around her intestines and gizzard. The rest of her organs looks normal to me, though I'm more familiar with the inside rabbits than chickens. She was a heavy barred rock.
I just finished 5 days of amprolium (5 weeks after the first round), then 3 days of toltrazuril right before she died.
Now her buddy is looking pale and drinking a lot of water and I'm afraid she's going down, too. I just observed a loose poop that had a reddish brown streak in it, though I'm not sure if it was blood or cecal poop. She's been eating well, and active, but it's hot today, about 90 and humid, and she's an orpington.
Is there anything I can do for her to help her? I had intended to do the extended lower dose of corid but since the toltrazuril came in I just did that and was going to repeat in 6 days like it said on the package. Anything I can do to support healing the damage?
Thank you!
