Lost a Hen Today

So sorry to hear that . I have yet to have a problem with a hawk but I have lost some to eagles.

Now a eagle COULD pick up a chicken and fly away. Scary bird right there!

Yes I have lost quite a few of my chooks to hawks
My neighbour had a hawk the height of her waist that attacked her chickens flew into the coop and then as the other two chickens walked over it cut both their heads off

I am saddened by your loss, my condolences. Your acceptance is inspirational because situations like this are emotionally devastating to me. Every hen I've lost has broken my heart.

… Juveniles are crappy hunters. They don’t try to fly off with them they’ll just get them on the ground... Ever seen a hawk eat a bird?...

Hawks will eat a chicken alive if they are unable to open the veins in the neck. There a numerous threads in this forum about hens who survived a hawk attack but still fed a hawk.

Poor hen. You should put a roof on your run to prevent that from happening in the future.
