Lost a hen today!

I'm so sorry, too. Maybe you might go get a little cement chicken yard statue & place it at her grave as a memorial. Take care.

Now I'm crying, too!! I was already really sad. What a sweet story about a really neat rooster.

what a great rooster! A statue is a good idea too. I know what a prolapse is but not sure what it would look like on a hen. It is quite possible that's what happened; it makes sense. I'm thinking she may have had some internal injury from whatever tried to get her, then the other hens just kept at it. I HATE that they do that! I wasn't there when he found her, nor was I there when she passed so I can't say for sure. When I saw her, her vent was very extended, swollen and bloody. DBF said she passed some bloody goop, couldn't move, and that's when he knew she wasn't going to make it. I'm actually very glad I wasn't there to see it. Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and wishes. We are doing ok
