Day three of having the babies and lost one poult failure to thrive? They all seem to be eating and drinking fine they rush over to the water when I put it back in after cleaning it and filling it back up they also get excited about new crumbles in the brooder with them. No pasty butt seemed fine even had a little bit of food in it's craw just laying out dead like it went to sleep and just didn't wake up. My son is upset he asked when the baby is going to wake up hard lesson for the little guy. Everyone else seems to be fine and healthy 3 of them are alot bigger than the other ones and then this was one of the smaller 3 then 4 seem to be right in between sized from the other two groups. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on them and wait to see if the other two little ones make it.

Day three or four is a common time to lose an occassional poult. It takes about three days to absorb their yolk entirely, and then they need to start eating and drinking. Some just don't make the switch successfully. I lost two of 15 that I hatched this year, both at day three or four. I hope you were able to explain things to your son...
