Lost all 6 chickens today

From posting on a neighborhood social media site, it seems there has been lots of fox encounters in the area (I live near a large open space in CO).

This was my very first flock. How do you heal from something like this? I miss my birds and new ones won't replace the void. I'm also not looking forward to going through the whole process of raising them again. I'm also very terrified of the same thing happening again.

:welcome

Unfortunately, there is a huge learning curve with chickens, and often that includes loss of birds. You have a few options - you can decide never to get chickens again and miss out on the fun they can provide; you can get baby chicks and start all over again with that cuteness; or you could look into getting point of lay pullets or hens that are already laying. You had a hard lesson, but I'm quite sure you've learned it. Pick up the pieces and move on or don't. You are the only one who can decide. (All this coming from a woman who has had dogs all her life, and after every dog that I've lost has tearfully sworn "Never again!".. And has a new one usually within a few months.)

Where are you located? There may be a few members around here in you area with older chicks for sale.

I'm so sorry that this happened. Don't blame yourself. Today one of my chickens wandered off when we let her out, we put posters up but I don't know if we will find her. I'm so upset she had just started laying:(((
