i was thinking about moving it to the side of the tank with the heat light, but i wasnt sure if i should or not, on different reason, 1 being will it burn/catch fire as it is real bark and real dry, but as it is a reptile decoration im sure it wont as most reptiles are made to have heat lamps too, ans second was if i put it at the end with the light will the chicks have enough room to run and play around, the other 2 logs are there for there enjoyment but more for the fact that they cover where the end of on and the beggining of the other training pad starts, so that way they wont get underneath or try to pull it up and make a mess, thats another reason the half bark log thingy is at that end, to hold the training pad down

So let me get this right, you bought fertile eggs from TJ's and they were in the cooler and you got those to hatch? That's crazy! I'm still fairly new to the whole chicken thing and so this just seems super odd to me. What kind of chooks do you get out of those eggs? Do many people buy fertile eggs to hatch or do people eat them usually? And out of one dozen you got 3 or 4 to go? Sorry for all the questions, I feel like a little kid in the why phase all of a sudden lol.

I too would like to ask the same questions as the person above me. So I can go to TJ's and get some eggs from the fridge and bring them home and I might hatch some? Or are they out in room temperature? I have never hatched eggs and that would be so cool.

Yea no kidding! My wife is looking at me like "crap!" She has seen this look on my mug before. But if I can actually do this I might just have to give it a shot and blame it on wanting to get the kids going on a 4-H thing lol. I'm quickly catching the sickness and really want to see birds hatch.

I got the sickness and its hard to get rid of, I live in Ohio and am still hatching (3rd time in 3 months.) winter is here and I'm on day 18. They will be staying in our attached garage this winter. (we have no barn). I've been taking lots of Vitiman C and D. But I can't get rid of it.

Maybe you won't catch it until spring.

Yes they came strait from the refridgerator at Trader Joes, you have to make sure you get the Trader Joe fertile eggs, and yes i had 4 going into good development, but since my run in with the electricity outage i have lost all but maybe 1 or 2 of all my eggs originally set. But i am not the first one to hatch the store bought fertile eggs, there is quite a few stories on here of them, infact i am going again to TJ on saturday to pick up another 3 dozen to set so that way i can possibly have a Christmas baby, but i will keep you guys updated on this as my eggs are in lockdown now and due on saturday into sunday so i will let you all know how it turns out. i suggest you guys head over to TJ's to and pick up some of there fertile eggs its a real shocker to candle those eggs and actually see development in them (that is after a week or so of incubation lol) its very cool.

so once again to everyone it seems like i might have 1 maybe 2 eggs still alive, after i candled last nite, but i left the other eggs in and i will see if i get any surprises and i will let you all know what happens

Oh man it's a good thing I have no incubator and no clue as to how to hatch eggs yet or I'd be up that creek w/o a paddle! I have this huge fear of jumping into things without a good deal of knowledge under my belt. It's the only thing that has been keeping me from goin off the deep end with pullets already lol. We have 8 19 week old ladies that are getting a bit awnry and I have been hinting at the fact that this is far from over. I'm not sure how it's going to go when I ask the landlord if we can take over a new section of the area behind our backyard fence. We live on an old retired dairy farm and so I hope he understands our need for more space to be more productive with the land but eh... buttering up will be in order for sure... Ugh I'm rambling... Bottom line, there need to be more chickens at my house.

I wanted to get my girls an incubator and some eggs for xmas, see my justification? lol I just hope we don't go too crazy. My neighbor has chooks and another one wants some after seeing how cool ours are so I'm hoping to eventually sell them the coop I'm currently making and a few layers in time. Yea, not even done with the first coop and already daydreaming about a new one hehe.

My DW works nights at Safeway and noticed last night that they have fertile eggs as well. She noted that they were heavier then the regular ones and I guess when they cracked one open the white felt real velvety and the composition of the egg was different then the standard non fertile one. Odd but understandable. It's so funny how much you pay attention to weird things when you own chickens. I never really noticed the tons of hawks, falcons and owls we have out here until we got them. Let alone all the other birds and other animals we pay way more attention to more so nowadays as well. What kind of chooks do you expect to get out of the fertile eggs and sorry to ask such a seemingly common question but how long does it take for the TJ eggs take to hatch? I hope your eggs do well! That would be awesome to have xmas babies!
