I just went to check on one of my coops and found all my birds dead. My husband went in to look around, and was confronted by a bobcat. Thankfully he shot her, but she'd be in there sometime and killed all of my Buff Orpingtons, my Lav Orpingtons, all my Blues and Blacks,my only lemon cuckoo project bird, my Langshans, my Marans, a guinea and a Bourbon Red tom. She killed around 35 birds. I'm sick to my stomach, my Buffs were my first chickens and I had years invested in my Orpingtons. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about it coming back, but tomorrow we get to clean up the mess. I'd put all my best birds in my most secure coop and they're all gone.
The coop is a metal barn with a concrete floor. It was faced off with pipe and wire, with cattle panels welded on top to keep owls out. The bobcat climbed up the wire and squeezed through the panel.
