Hello everyone. I'm Jennifer, 42 years young and proud animal momma to two indoor cats, two barn cats, and currently 9 hens. Plus some wildlife and feral cats that pass through. It's pretty common to hear my DH exclaim 'Stop naming them!' with a laugh in his voice - who else sunbathes next to snapping turtles? I do, no one enjoys the warm sun like a big ole snapper. - shrug-
We started with a small coop and 4 laying hens after a wayward sweet Roo adopted us one Fall. It's funny how country storms bring new friends. As time passed, we were down to one hen and I adopted a rescue hen to keep her company while our chicks were growing. Of course then our remaining original hen passed away in her sleep, thankfully once the chicks were big enough to be with my adopted sweetheart.
Somehow expecting to lose half of them (not on my watch) my DH had picked up 8 chicks from a local breeder.
Now being a huge BTS Army, my hens are named Joonie, Jinnie, Yoongi, Hobi, Jiminie, TaeTae, Kookie, and Ami. Plus my adopted Amber. My friends affectionately named them Hentan (instead of Bangtan) and it stuck.
Our girls have a spacious area inside and outside that is secure and free roam under supervision. We're still new to raising chickens so I'm here to learn and care for them better.
Pleased to meet you.
