Lost Duck to a Hawk, what to do.

What kind of duck was it? I life next to a National Forest and see Hawks (mainly Cooper or Redwing and vultures overfly sometimes, But figured my free-range (day only inside a 4ft fence.) Runners "look bigger than they are" to a raptor 2ft. + tall , though only 4-5 lbs. I am getting more ducks, Hookbills and Saxonies from Holderread maybe and don't want to lose them.

I do have a smooth collie, who is in a yard adjacent and 3 terriers , and 4 tufted buff geese that free-range next too....and I suspect they may be deterrents for the raptors........maybe

Most of my ducks are large birds such as blue swedish, rouens, ex. I have several runners in the bunch as well. Though the girl I lost was a Rouen. Poor little lady didn't see it coming.

They scream their head off when they see a hawk.
It's an early warning system

I don't know what I would do without them for that very reason

Oh interesting, maybe I should get a couple because I know this spring my hawk will be back and Im Dreading it.

I'm having hawk problems too, but hopefully he will migrate back to where he came from. My guineas have paid for themselves at least three times now by letting me know about overhead hawks. They just saved my chickens today by letting my dad know something was out attacking my chickens. He ignores the chickens, but it's hard to ignore the screams of 8 guineas.
Here are a couple of mine:
