I’ve got 10 eggs in bator... seen 4/5 move earlier today... not moved for a while... then thought I saw a pip... but haven’t... it’s now end of the day and I think they are all dead HELP

Yeah that’s what I’m hoping... I did move them from a broody hen to the bator.. that could be the reason?

Eggs can take up to 24 days to hatch and still be just fine. Moving eggs is often when they are moving into hatch position, or if they have pipped internally. Just be patient as hatching is a complicated process. It can be 24 hours between internal pip to external pip. Then they will finish absorbing the remains of the yolk, and the blood that's been running through the veins of the membrane, and lastly unzipping which is the quickest part to hatching. From external pip to unzipping and finally hatching can take 24 hours, sometimes longer.

Yeah... I get that! Just my previous hatches have run so smoothly... so maybe this one is just a play it by ear kinda game. 😂 do you think moving them from a broody to an incubator would be the reason? I gave the broody hen 7 chicks that had already hatched and she gave me a great mother

Perhaps she hadn't been warming all the eggs quite evenly. Broodies are so cute with their babies.

Yeah perhaps! Yeah she’s a good mum and only a young hen!!! But praying these babies make it out in the bator!!! How long would you give them 25 days maximum?

If you candle them you should be able to see if there's still hope. But yes, I'd give them until day 25, then candle to look for signs of life if nothing seems to be happening. I have read of people putting eggs they didn't think would hatch in their compost bin only for one to start cheeping. And I found this video on YouTube too:

I'd candle them now to see what's going on. Just try and keep them in the position they are sitting in the incubator. Don't twist and turn them around as this can confuse the chick who then tries to turn around and gets stuck.

See if the air cells have drawn down at least. :fl
