I noticed the first lesions on his comb about 3 weeks ago and they progressed rapidly after that until his comb and wattles were pretty much covered with the black scabs. I never saw any in his throat so I am pretty sure he only had the dry type. Well, as of yesterday, I thought we had it beat because probably 75% of the scabs had fallen off and he was still eating well etc., however, this morning he was dead. I had noticed that his comb, although looking mcuh better than before, had become very pale and was no longer bright red. Also, he stopped crowing a few days ago so I guess these were both signs of what was to come but I figured with him eating good, taking vitamins/electrolytes daily, and mostly acting normal that he was on the mend. I was under the impression that only the wet form was fatal, but obviously, the dry form can be as well. Gonna miss that guy, he was a real beauty.
