Lost my favorite girl last night. 1st time losing a chicken. Does it get easieršŸ˜

We lost one today to a hawk. It sucks. At least we know what happened to her I reckon. We didn't even name our last batch of chickens (5) because its just easier when things like this happen. For me at least.

Sorry for your loss.

Hens disappear and try to nest in the most strange places. Then they will appear again on three weeks like is nothing. She could be behind your fridge or under your bed at your feet at this moment, perfectly silent. Females do this things all the time.

You get through it but sometimes you just don't get over it....:( I have had many go to The Rainbow Bridge, so lots of sadness over the years, but I'd be worse off if I never had any hens at all.

Years ago my Little Brown Hen, Wilma, disappeared when time to put all my girls into the run for the night. I searched frantically EVERYWHERE, past dark. She was nowhere. Crying, sleepless night, opened the run the next morning, turned around and there was Wilma at the barn door!! Never felt such joy and relief as in that moment. It can happen.
Aww I'm happy you had a happy ending w your beloved Wilmaā¤ļø My girl never made it back. I'm feeling better in my healing process. I even got my kids a book about losing a pet chicken.
