Crowing
My Dad raised meat rabbits. Mostly palomino and California. My twin girls got a pair from grandpop when they were four. My dad was on point. He set them up with everything. The first litter of kits came on a cold sleet March day. We were checking close as the hutch was in the yard and kits not in the nesting box on the wire last only a few minutes. Sure enough, as soon as we turned our back we had ice cold blue kits all over the wire. Not one in the nesting box.
I didn't think any were alive but I did just as my dad told me. I put them all on a cookie sheet and put them in the over on warm with the door open. When they start popping off the cookie sheet put them in the nesting box with mom. My girls were crying with all the lifeless, hairless babies on that cookie sheet. It was like a morgue slab. In just minutes they were jumping around on the cookie sheet. They were blue and ice cold, no way... All but one made it. I had to run outside and grab momma and the nest box before they got over baked.
Best summer ever. Kiddie pool full of rabbits and my twins.
