My one hen died yesterday (henrietta) 14 weeks old she had a birth defect from the get go but figured I would just let her live as long as she could well yesterday was the day. King my roo is having a fit in there, but now he follows me like a puppy dog, I have 7 young pullets but they are way to young(2 1/2 weeks) to put in with him, He doesn't really bother them out in the yard together just afraid in the coop together he might be to agrssive:(

OK, even though I'm a diehard Browns fan, I'll respond...
So sorry about your hen. I bet your poor sweet rooster is grieving. I guess I'd give him lots of extra attention now, and let him be with the babies during the day as long as he plays nicely. In a few weeks he'll be surrounded by lovely ladies, and his troubles will be forgotten!

Oh that is so sad! Sounds like the poor guy misses his friend. I'd grab him and hold him for a while, and give him some extra treats. Sorry for your loss. Is there any way he could be in the same area as the pullets? Maybe just some company would help a little bit?

I have been playing with him but the 2 bird dogs I own want to (eat him) Jealous things they are
thanks
what was sad was when I went to the pen he was collecting her feathers and putting them in a pile at the ramp

King the roo wouldn't stop crowing so I divided the hen house and put the 2 1/2 week old pullets on one side and he goes on the other and now he is quiet now he's got 7 new girls

aaawww sorry about your hen. I am glad you put the little girls in there with him though, it will probably occupy him to protect them.
