I lost my beautiful little BBROE bantam hen to an impacted/sour crop.

I tried all the remedies listed in the forums, except surgery. That was next, but she passed away before we could do it. I'm so sad. She was my husband's favorite chicken, the sweetest little thing in the world. I feel guilty, wishing I had caught it sooner or done something differently. If they could only talk and tell us what is wrong. Thanks to those that have posted "fixes" in the forum - at least I felt like I was helping her. I think I just caught it too late.

Oh no! I'm so sorry! Would you mind sharing how you know it was an impacted crop? If someone searches crop, this post may be helpful!

I wasn't sure at first what was wrong with her - she was very lethargic and was puffing herself up, showing no interest in food or water. I checked on this forum for ideas and found the description of impacted crop, so I went to check and sure enough, that's what she had. There are some really good threads on here to describe it, try to help, and even surgery for it.
