I now have 15 or 16 Barnevelders, 4 feather-legged cuckoo marans cockerels, 2 turkeys and 8 cornish crosses. This week I have 7 ducks, 7 turkeys and 2 more goslings coming in.

I canceled an order for Welsummers and Buff Orpingtons. I can get Buff Orpingtons later. (There was my moment of restraint).

Somebody help me.

Hey, at least you had SOME restraint! You could be like me, instead....... (Oh, just go ahead and imagine it; chances are you might be below the mark, I'm that bad at curbing impulses to hatch more chickens...)

Been there. Ordered 25 rare breed chicks. Then decided I wanted some standard brown and white egg layers and ordered 17 more!!!! I was able to sell some but I still have 24 out of 50 and I have 11 eggs in the incubator right now with more eggs coming in the mail this week!!!

I have got chick crazy and I have to keep going out and buying new supplies to build new brooders!!!!

Oh yes! The plan has work yet again. You have become infected with the chicken virus. We specialize in recruiting people to the chicken coop side of the farm.

I ordered 25 chicks then contracted the not so rare condition called HATCHAHOLICISM.. even worse... I don't just hatch one particular breed.. I have to have variety.. then comes the problem of only one chick of a certain breed.. so off I go to the egg swap or auction to buy some egg friends in the making..

a vicious cycle I tell ya.. but something about seeing movement in a shell, then seeing such a tiny thing work so terribly hard to get out.. is infectious.

too late to tell you.. but there is no cure..

Oh the joys of math!!!! I have 25 chickens. Got 23 chicks this year, now 6-7 weeks old. Now I've got a broody with 3 more eggs under her.( hubby told me too)

And to make matters worse, On top of the 25+ chicks I have now and the 10 in the incubator, And the dozen which are being shipped, There is a chicken swap at a nearby TSC in a week......I have to go right?

You know the Cornish cross don't count, right? They'll be gone in just a few weeks. And if you're not keeping all the the cockerels, they don't count either. Any miscellaneous poultry DEFINITELY does not count, since they are separate animals all together.
So that leaves you with... 15, if the barnevelders are all pullets, 7-8 if they're straight run. Definitely enough room to add a few more
