Lost our wonderful girl, a couple thoughts, and we're getting chicks

We lost our wonderful RIR mix last night. I had a couple thoughts about her and our Good Shepherd, if anyone would like to read it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/our-gateway-chickens

So next week we're going to get a couple chicks...maybe 3. Probably Orps. Our flock was 2 weeks old when we got them, and I'm looking forward to having babies Thank you all so much for being so generous with your time and help.

I'm sorry. Your post was a bit of a wake-up call form me. We've always kept our hens in a run during the day. But lately, I've decided to let them out for a couple of hours a day to clean up snails and bugs in the garden. Usually I'm out there with them but I've been coming inside to answer the phone, etc. While our yard is fenced, we have foxes that check in and could easily grab a hen if they so decided. Thanks for your post and my condolences on losing your dear hen.
