Lost pigeon

Hi, I have loads of pigeons at my barn, they are all feral ones, descended from racing pigeons, today I went down there and there was a purplish black pigeon, with a prominent white thing around his beak. She seems calm enough but won't come down. What should I do?

Is it banded? What kind of a white thing around its beak, like something plastic, or just a marking? Why do you need to do anything?

It was banded, it appears to have flown off. Last time this happened I caught it and found the owner. This was the white thing on its beak

Hard to see, but that just looks like part of its beak, like an overgrown cere.

Yes, the white thing on the beak is normal for pigeons like those. Can I see of picture of the pigeon you found? Does it have a leg band on it? do you have it inside?

I believe that's called the cere. Some domestic breeds of pigeon have a much more developed cere than others. Sounds like it was a beautiful bird.

The pigeon stuck around for a couple of hours and then decided to disappear. I will keep an eye out for her.
