Ah, I’m sorry you lost him. About the canker and wild birds, I would just make sure to refresh the water you’re giving them frequently, and clean the waterer (if you haven’t already), because shared water is the main way canker spreads.

yes, I actually change and clean there waterer out 3-4 times a day
They love taking baths in it but I hate when they do that. Maybe if I put out a another bowl they will take baths in on and drink from the other?

I wouldn’t count on it, unless the bowl is very small. My pigeons will bathe in anything.

When I had pigeons, I would use a gallon jug. Milk, juice, etc.

Cut a hole big enough for their head at an appropriate height, and full with water up to the hole. They can stick their head in to get a drink, but not bathe in it.
