Finding a girlfriend for my pigeon

Hi! I found a sick lost pigeon, nursed it back to health, and he never left, he’s been living at my house ever since. I love him. But I’m scared he might be lonely, so I wanted to buy him a girlfriend. I think it is male because i heard some Coo-woo-woos.

My questions:
Does it have to be a pigeon of the same breed?
I heard pigeons mate for life, so would he be picky about the mate? What if he doesn’t like her?

I don’t think breed matters, unless you are planning to hatch pure-bred eggs.

I dónt plan on breeding or anything i’d just like to get him a companion, but I wasn’t sure if pigeons were picky when it came to who they like to hang out with

I only have one dove now and he seems to be okay, don't see to much lonelyness from him. But I can't read what he is thinking so..

If you want to get him a friend, I'm sure he would love that! No, it doesn't have to be the same breed. Thank you for saving this poor guy! I'm sure he loves you very much!
