Lost Power to Incubator

Good day
We have gone through an Ice Storm that knocked the power out
I have a full Incubator on the 9th day
The power whent out Yesterday morning I was out when it happen around 10 AM I didnt get home till about 3 PM when I checked the incubator The temperature was down to 65 F and started to panic a little
I started the wood stove and moved the incubator close to it I managed to get it up to 88 F till just now
The power came back on at 11 this morning and the incubator is back to 99.5 F
I'm just wondering if there is still hope for these eggs or where they to chilled
I figure they where at the 60's for at least 4 or 5 hour
should I desregard these eggs and start over or continue with it and see what will happen

I have my Nice coming for Christmas and she's staying with us till the New Year and she is so excited about these babies
I told her she could have some to take care of,
she's even got the cage all set up for these babies don't know what to do now
didn't want to disapoint her

Any thoughs on what I should do

See what happens! you have got nothing to lose, they may have made it

they hatch on day 18 so only 1 more week, keep us posted!

Your eggs should still be viable. The hatch date may be delayed by a day or so. Keep the incubator running and candle in a day or so to check on viability. Good luck.

I think I will wait and see what will happen
I will candle and see if tehre is anyknd of movement inside
I will post the results

Coturnix eggs can be hard to candle if you aren't used to what you are looking at, don't toss any unless you are completely sure.

Just ride it out and see what happens. I had to leave for a family emergency once and put all my eggs in an ice chest incubator and ran it off the inverter in my truck they spent a few hours at 85* or so because the inverter wasn't drawing enough power. I still got a hatch out those eggs.

I need to get a generator hooked up to some of the essentials
its amazing how reliant we all are to electricity

I tried to candle some f the eggs
I can't tell what's going on inside they are dark but I didn't notice anything moving
didn't want to keep the egg out for to long

I cant post pictures is there something I need to do
i have tried everything I could think of

You will only see movement in the later stages of development and rarely at all in coturnix eggs because they are so dark. I don't candle eggs because I like to avoid touching them since they can be delicate but if your worried about viability check this thread out it will tell you how to float test the eggs to see if they are any good just make sure to use water close to 100* F.

I read the tread you recommended on floating the eggs
for viability great information

I'm going to wait for another four days when I remove the egg turner I will try that and remove the duds
that way I wont disturb the eggs as much

The Southern Ontario Ice storm


The storm did a number on this tree its one of my favorites now its down to half its branches
This other tree is across the road on my neighbors front lawn

It started last Friday and there are still some people without power today a week later
and temps have been below 0' F

But I'm

still optimistic that I'm going to have some hatch day 13 today
