Lost power to my bator full of peacock eggs!!! Covered it with blankets and it's sitting at 90F. What's the lowest temp before damage to the eggs begins?

The internal temp of the eggs cannot drop too much, but just because the incubator temp is 90 doesn't mean the eggs are that cool. The eggs will take longer to cool down then the air. Being cooled is better then being too hot.

I found that eggs can get quite cold without damage. As long as it's not too cold for too long. It may delay the hatch date a bit though.

Thank you for your replies. We were without power for a couple of hours. The incubator temp reading never fell below 90F, thank goodness. I hope that the only consequence is a delayed hatch date. I don't want to rock the boat further by candling so I'm just gonna cross my fingers:-)

I've often thought if I buy expensive eggs to hatch; why not get me a small generator. I could keep gas on hand and then would not be without the power for it and maybe a coffee pot. Wonder how much the small one with electric start would cost. Gloria Jean
