Lost Scout

Danielle nodded and brushed her hair back from her eyes. Now that they had put some distance between themselves and the orc camp, she was beginning to feel more and more at ease. The interaction between Strider and Ruby, however, made her more homesick than ever. "Where are we going now?" She asked. "Won't the orcs try and follow us?"

The interaction between Strider and Ruby, however, made her more homesick than ever. "Where are we going now?" She asked. "Won't the orcs try and follow us?"
"We will gather the horses and take you to the settlement. Aelfric should meet us soon." Strider answered and looked around the woods again. He noticed that they were nearly back to the horses again and turned from the path to go to the ravine.

It was growing darker by the minute as they descended the steep, narrow trail that zig zagged about halfway down the face of the cliff until it finally ended at the mouth of a cave. By now it was so dark, they could no longer see the river still a good distance below them, only hear it flowing. Laethros pryed the girl off of him, setting her down at the dark cave entrance. "Get a torch lit, will ya?" Laethros said, still sounding annoyed that he had to be the one to force their prisoner down to the cave.

Charles looked a bit abashed and got a torch burning quickly. "Let's go," Laethros said to the girl, pointing into the cave.

"Thank you..." Danielle looked sincerely at him. She followed him down the ravine, and paused suddenly when she seen the horses. "Umm, do you mind if I wash some of this off?" She looked at herself with a curled upper lip as both her and Ruby were still covered in tree sap, pigs blood and feathers. "It smells awful."

Raven had pressed herself back against the cave wall as soon as he had set her down. She refused to look at the cave entrance as she turned to look into the cave. Taking a deep breath she moved into the cave where Laethros indicated.

"Go ahead, I'll watch for Aelfric" Strider said and looked around the forest again, listening to the wildlife.
Ruby kept walking until she reached her horse. Rosa started to shy away but calmed at Ruth's voice.

Danielle continued to the very bottom of the ravine where a small stream was still flowing. The water was very cold, but not enough to deter her from washing some of the crud off of herself. When the worst of the 'BBQ sauce' was off, she returned to the horses but did not approach any of them as she wasn't sure which one was hers to ride.

Ruby followed Danielle to wash some of the stuff off of herself after a moment with the horses. She returned not long after and got in the saddle, wincing as the move pulled on her wounds. "We should go" She said to Strider, looking to him.
Strider made his way down to the girls, a worried look on his face. "Yeah, the important thing right now is to get you two to the settlement." He said and went to Stone and Jumped into the saddle. "You want to ride pillion or take the other horse?" he asked Danielle

"I can take Pillion," Danielle replied, moving over to the horse which Strider had indicated. She hoisted herself into the saddle, wincing like Ruby as her sore muscles stretched. In the dark the night before she hadn't been able to visually make a trail in her head, so she had no idea how to get back to the road. She knew it was roughly north, but the trees were so thick that she had difficulty even seeing the sun.

(pillion means riding behind another person)
Strider waited for her to mount up then turned the horse to get out of the ravine then head north to head towards the road and the settlement
